World Class Performance Programme Welcomes New Recruit

It has been a fantastic year for GB Taekwondo and following on from the historic medal haul at the Olympic Games, we are delighted to welcome new recruit, Peter Longobardi Radford to the World Class Performance Programme in Manchester.

He joins the team following a successful stint of wins across a number of competitions including the Dutch, Spanish and Austrian Opens in 2016.

The 21-year-old, born in Majorca to Italian and British parents, will begin training at the National Taekwondo Centre next week when his GB colleagues return from their summer break.

He is currently ranked within the top 30 in the world and will fight under the -68kg weight division alongside Ben Haines, Christian McNeish, Bradly Sinden and Tony Stephenson.

On hearing the exciting news, Peter said, “It’s great to join the GB team! I didn’t want to miss out on the chance to better my development and goals in order to reach Tokyo 2020 and onwards.”

Performance Director, Gary Hall said: “Peter is an outstanding athlete, he has won many G1 events and is a great asset to GB Taekwondo. I am sure he will achieve brilliant things in next four years and beyond.”
