Badr Bags Bronze in Trelleborg

Londoner Amin Badr has bagged a bronze medal in the -55kg junior male category at the Trelleborg Open this weekend.

Fighting for the first time in 2012, Badr got off to a fantastic start defating Mathias Jambor from Poland 11-1 in the first preliminary round.

He followed it up with a fantastic 7-5 victory over Italian Marcello Porcaro in the Quarter Final before taking on Mexican National Team member Edgar Al Porras Reyes in the Semis.

After a tense two opening rounds Badr conceded a point in the final seconds of the third round handing a 1-0 victory to the Mexican.

Meanwhile there were victories for several members of the National Cadet Talent Squad as Archie Waldock (Cadet -41kg), Tyron Moores-Duffield (Cadet -45kg) and Tim Needham (Cadet -37kg) took home gold medals and Finlay Benton (Cadet -37kg) won silver.

GB Academy athlete George Lee takes part in the -68kg junior category on Sunday (12th).
