About Isobella

Hailing just a stone-throw away from the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Isobella has her sights set on becoming Olympic Champion, one day.

Following the success of her brother’s (Christian McNeish’s) transfer from Kickboxing to Taekwondo, Isobella fought her way through the 2016 Fighting Chance initiative to land herself a coveted spot on the GB team.

Her previous achievements include bronze at the WAKO Cadet & Junior World Championships and her first W.T medal was secured at the 2017 Paris Open (bronze).

60 SECOND INTERVIEW

WHEN DID YOU START TAEKWONDO AND WHY:
I came through the Fighting Chance programme in 2016 and with my brother (Christian McNeish) already being on the GB Taekwondo team, through Fighting Chance, I thought, why not give it a go?

In terms of kickboxing, I have been doing that since I was about five with my dad who is a coach - it was inevitable.

OTHER SPORTS PLAYED:
I did quite a lot: I played netball, horseriding, trampolining...let's leave it there!

AMBITION:
To be the best. Obviously, aim for the Olympics/major competitions and become the next legend.

ROLE MODEL/FAVOURITE OTHER SPORTSMAN OR WOMAN:
My dad, just because he's very inspiring and Jessica Ennis. As a woman, she is a great athlete, not only did she do her thing but she had children and came back to win again. She's pretty cool.

WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC WATCH TAEKWONDO:
It's a martial art...who doesn't love that? It's entertaining and quite fun, I'd encourage people to get involved in it.

IF SOMEONE GAVE YOU £1 MILLION, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT:
Invest, probably in property or bitcoin, buy a house and probably start my own charity.

SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ISOBELLA MCNEISH:
I have four siblings and all of our birthdays fall on the 8th, just three months apart. So 8th January, April, July and October.
