About Jacob

Jacob Barnett joined the GB Taekwondo Academy via the 2016 Fighting Chance initiative, which he applied to after having been on the Development Programme for a number of years.

His previous achievements include representing Great Britain at the Junior European Championships in 2013 and the Under 21 European Championships, just two years later.

Since then, he has medalled at the 2017 Austrian Open and was selected to compete at the University Games by BUCS (British Universities & Colleges Sport).

WHEN DID YOU START TAEKWONDO AND WHY:
I first took up taekwondo at an after-school club with my mates when I was six years old.

OTHER SPORTS PLAYED:
I liked to play basketball when I was younger, just for fun.

AMBITION:
To go all the way - Olympic gold!

ROLE MODEL/FAVOURITE OTHER SPORTSMAN OR WOMAN:
Muhammad Ali because he went through a lot and still managed to come out on top, such a great story.

WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC WATCH TAEKWONDO IN YOUR OPINION:
It's fast, exciting and dynamic.

IF SOMEONE GAVE YOU £1 MILLION, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT:
I'd invest, give some to family or close friends and save so that I could be comfortable after my taekwondo career.
