About Jonathan

A keen footballer, Jonathan first took up Taekwondo as he fancied a change of sport and was immediately hooked.

A dedicated fighter, Jonathan went onto win himself the title of British Champion – just six months into the martial art.

He joined the GB Academy, after applying to the Fighting Chance Talent I.D initiative, in 2016 and hasn’t looked back since.

60 SECOND INTERVIEW

WHEN DID YOU START TAEKWONDO AND WHY:
It was in October 2015, I got sick of playing football and wanted to do something really different. I tried it once and I was just completely hooked after that.

OTHER SPORTS PLAYED:
Football, basketball and rugby in school.

AMBITION:
I want to fight the best people in the world! I love the challenge of getting to the major's, each competition is one step closer.

WHY SHOULD THE PUBLIC WATCH TAEKWONDO IN YOUR OPINION?
It's one of those sports where the more you watch it, the more interesting it becomes.

IF SOMEONE GAVE YOU £1 MILLION, WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH IT:
Send my parents on holiday, I think they deserve it. There are a few sectors I want to get involved in...so this would be my chance to do that - aerospace, that type of thing.

SOMETHING YOU DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT JONATHAN BANGURA:
I used to play the guitar, I did it for around six years and then stopped.
