Cho Holds No Regrets About Choosing Taekwondo Over Football

Taekwondo or football? Taekwondo or football? Taekwondo or football?

Aged just 17, that was the refrain running through Mahama Cho’s head as he faced a decision that would shape the rest of his life.

Cho was playing semi-professional football for Erith Town and had also had trials with Dagenham and Redbridge but an offer to join up with the British Taekwondo squad ultimately proved too tempting to turn down.

Having secured a fourth and final quota spot for Team GB at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games by reaching the final and then going to win the European Olympic qualification tournament in Istanbul last month, his decision could well be vindicated if he gains selection for Team GB in Rio.
