  • Manchester 2022 is the 25th edition of the European Taekwondo Championships
  • The event sets a precedent for the sport as the first major competition with Para taekwondo categories fully integrated into the event programme
  • 409 athletes from 51 counties
    • 88 Para Taekwondo / 321 G4
  • 36 weight categories to be contested
  • Second time Manchester has hosted this event – first time in 2012
  • 1480 medals awarded since the competition started in 1976
    • Spain top the table with 192 medals (61 of these Gold)
  • 14 athletes from Ukraine registered to compete in Manchester 2022
  • 48 European medallists from Sofia 2021 hoping to retain their titles in 2022
    • 15 Gold / 11 Silver / 22 Bronze
  • Athletes with the most gold medals awarded in the history of the Championships
    • Male – Geremia di Constanzo (ITA) and Joseph Salim (DEN)
    • Female – Gwladys Epangue (FR)
  • GB athletes Jade Jones is the most awarded athlete competing in this year’s Championships with six European Championship medals in total (3 Gold/1 Silver/2 Bronze)
