There are few more impressive ‘structures’ than Olympic heavyweight, Mahama Cho.

Or as tall and as striking as fellow Rio 2016 star, Bianca Walkden.

But the GB Taekwondo pair are cast in the shadow of an iconic piece of metalwork that has become a British landmark since London 2012.

And thanks to British Taekwondo there’s an opportunity to take in the many equally impressive sights of London from the ‘summit’ of the UK’s tallest sculpture.

Created by Sir Anish Kapoor and Cecil Balmond, the 114.5 metres high (or 375 feet in old money) ArcelorMittal Orbit towers above the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

It is also a stride away from the Copperbox Arena, this year and for the first time, home to the British Taekwondo National Championships from September 24-25.

Now, organisers have arranged a special offer for competitors and spectators to visit the ArcelorMittal Orbit to view the sweeping panorama of the city.

Made of 35,000 bolts and enough steel-some recycled from washing machines and used cars- to make 265 double-decker buses, the ArcelorMittal Orbit offers extraordinary 20-mile views over Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and the London skyline.

So, anyone showing their accreditation or National Championship spectator ticket at the attraction’s ticket booking office will be eligible for a 2 for 1 entry offer.

However, it doesn’t provide admission for the recently opened slide that transports thrill seekers down the tower in only 40 seconds!

The ArcelorMittal Orbit delighted 130,000 visitors during the Games and reopened on April5, 2014. Now, you could add to those figures by taking in a trip to the top during a break in action at the National Championships.
