GB Taekwondo secures funding increase for Tokyo 2020

UK Sport have today announced their investment decisions for the Tokyo 2020 cycle.

We are delighted to be able to confirm that GB Taekwondo will receive a funding award of up to £8.2M for our Olympic World Class Performance programme over the four-year cycle, subject to sport specific and general funding conditions.

This represents an increase on our Rio 2016 funding of 22%, which in the current climate comes as a huge boost for the sport.

Gary Hall, GB Taekwondo Performance Director said: “today’s announcement is acknowledgement of our record-breaking performance at Rio 2016 and the success of our programme over the course of the Rio cycle.

“We are delighted that UK Sport also recognises our potential to build on these achievements and that they support our plans to continue identifying and developing world class athletes at our new National Taekwondo Centre, capable of delivering on the highest stage over the next four years.”UK Sport have today announced their investment decisions for the Tokyo 2020 cycle.
