GB Taekwondo Turn to French Coach Torann for Paris 2024

GB Taekwondo are planning ahead after making the French connection to strengthen their high-performance coaching team.

Torann Maizeroi will take up his new post with the successful Manchester-based programme on Monday, September 9.

His initial focus will be to work with female athletes who have potential to qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games; prospects such as Aaliyah Powell, a 2019 World Championship bronze medallist at the age of just 16 and reigning Junior World Champion.

Torann is currently employed as a coach by the French Federation based at Fontainebleu.

GB Taekwondo Performance Director Gary Hall said: “Torann brings a wealth of knowledge as a previous successful athlete and coach from the French Taekwondo athlete development programme.

“I am sure he will add to the already World Class coaching team we have here at GB Taekwondo.

As an athlete Torann, 30, won silver at -74kg at the European Championships in Azerbaijan and represented France at five world championships. He has also competed at the World University and Military Games.

On his new appointment Torann said: “I am very happy and excited to bring my experience to GB Taekwondo.

“I believe I can bring added value to the GB female taekwondo team through my skills and experience as a coach.”
