Doping is the administration of a prohibited substance and/or method to enhance performance or recovery. It undermines the integrity of sport, the ethos of competition and potentially would allow science to determine sporting results. It can adversely affect the health and well-being of Athletes.
For these reasons many countries, including the UK, supported the creation of the World Anti-Doping Agency which had developed a set of codes for which all sports must now comply.
You can download the World Anti-Doping Code from the WADA website – www.wada-ama.org – The same site also has the associated international standards available for download:
- Prohibited List
- International Standard for Testing
- International Standard for Laboratories
- International Standard for Therapeutic Use Exemptions
The site www.globaldro.com provides athletes and support personnel with information about the prohibited status of specific substances based on the current World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) Prohibited List.
UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) and sports coach UK have collaborated to develop an interactive eLearning course. Coach Clean is designed to give coaches the knowledge and understanding to help guide athletes in clean sport and is the only anti-doping course that relates to the coach’s role.
Coach Clean can help you:
- support clean sport
- improve your understanding of anti-doping and what this means for coaches and athletes
- better prepare athletes for testing
- be able to explain the wide-reaching consequences of an anti-doping rule violation
- understand how to promote clean sport in your own coaching environment
The programme is the perfect introduction for coaches with no previous knowledge of anti-doping who want to learn more. Experienced coaches can also gain a better understanding of their own role in anti-doping and ensure they are current in their anti-doping knowledge.
The programme takes approximately two hours to complete and can be stopped and started at any time. On completion of this programme a certificate will be issued.
