Green Leaves GB Camp

Paul Green says he will “miss working with the team and the gifted athletes” after ending his 10-year association with GB Taekwondo.

The former Olympian from Manchester, who coached Jade Jones’ to Olympic success in 2012 and 2016, has cited “personal reasons” for ending his decade of service earlier this month.

Green, who has also masterminded major triumphs for double world champion, Bianca Walkden, and Lauren Williams, confirmed: “GB Taekwondo has the best training systems in the world. This has been reflected in the team’s excellent results.

“And so, I have every faith in the future achievements of the talented athletes and wish the team every success at Tokyo 2020. I am really going to miss working with the team and the gifted athletes.”

Commenting on Green’s departure GB Taekwondo’s Performance Director, Gary Hall, said: “Paul has enjoyed unprecedented success as a coach.

“He has contributed to our mission of creating a world-class programme which is the envy of the taekwondo world.

“We would like to thank Paul for his great contribution and we wish him every success in his future endeavours.

“At GB Taekwondo, we have a great team of experienced coaches and support staff and are confident of further success on the journey to Tokyo.”
