Jade Jones’ childhood coach says she was destined for Olympic glory

A Flintshire Taekwondo coach has told how he helped Jade Jones to double Olympic glory.

Martin Williams of Flint Taekwondo Club was the first person to coach the champion when she was just eight years old.

He told the Daily Post how “proud” he is of the Taekwondo ace and how he hopes her success will inspire youngsters across North Wales.

Jade, who grew up in the maisonettes in Flint, was introduced to the sport by her grandfather Martin Foulkes after becoming “naughty” at school.

Martin, who lives in Mold, said: “When she joined us she was eight and at that level you work your way through the different gradings but I remember she always performed exceptionally.
