Jade Jones Highlights Great Britain Olympic Taekwondo Team
Two Olympic medallists and a reigning world champion will be among the four fighters on Great Britain’s Olympic Taekwondo team this summer.
On Wednesday, Great Britain announced that the following athletes would fill the four quota spots earned for the Rio Games:
- Jade Jones (women’s 57kg)
- Bianca Walkden (women’s 67+kg)
- Lutalo Muhammad (men’s 80kg)
- Mahama Cho (men’s 80+kg)
Jones earned the country’s first-ever gold medal in taekwondo when, at 19 years old, she won the 57kg division on home soil at the 2012 London Olympics. Known as “The Headhunter” thanks to her ability to deliver devastating kicks to the heads of her opponents, Jones is currently the top-ranked fighter in her weight class and should contend for another Olympic title.
