Jones Wins 1st Round in Title Defence
Reigning Olympic Champion, Jade Jones has won her preliminary match against Naima Bakkal of Morocco 12-4 and will be competing in the -57kg Quarter Final later this evening.
Jones led the first round 4-2 after scoring her trademark head kick, before going onto finish round two, 8-4.
Both fighters were given kyong-go’s in the third round but Jones managed to land another three-point head kick to win the bout 12-4.
The 23-year-old will continue her quest to retain her title where she will face Iranian refugee, now representing Belgium – Raheleh Asemani at 7.30pm.
