Junior European Championships Team Announced
19th June 2023
GB Taekwondo has named the 13 fighters that have the honour of representing Great Britain at the Junior European Championships held in Tallinn, Estonia this summer.
It will run from 24th-26th August and will see a range of British athletes aged between 15 and 17 years old, going head-to-head with some of the continent’s best talent.
Recent Development Programme graduates, Teigan Smith, Dantrell Knight Mitchell, Neve McPhillie and Owen Blunt have all made the line-up and together with their teammates, are aiming to replicate the success from 2021 where four podium places were achieved.
Development Programme Manager, Steve Green, hopes to hit the ground running, “This squad is a good mix of athletes making their debut and others who are more experienced and have medalled previously.
“Either way, it’s a great environment for them to learn a lot from and getting a chance to compete at such a high level is invaluable.
“Historically speaking, GB has had some major wins at this prestigious event, from the likes of Chloe Roberts taking the top spot to Olympic medallist, Bradly Sinden gaining gold in Latvia in 2015 – so we can’t wait to get stuck in.”
