Silver Lining for Amy at Para Taekwondo Asian Open

25th May 2018

Amy Truesdale added another medal to her collection as GB Taekwondo fighters tackled the Para Taekwondo Asian Open Championship in Vietnam.

The world champion and world number one was one of the two Manchester trained athletes involved in the fourth edition of the event in Ho Chi Minh City.

Competing in the +58kg K 44 division, Amy reached the final to face familiar foe Uzbekistan’s Gulonoy Naimova.

They met last year in South Korea when Amy came out on top 24-9.

This time it was a different story as Naimova narrowly won 9-8 to take the gold medal.

Londoner Joe Lane performed well to reach the quarter-finals but lost to Iran’s Mahdi Pourrahnama, the world number one.
