Silver Success for Booth

5th September 2018

High Performance Coach, Nelson Miller, with Rachelle Booth.

Rachelle Booth has taken silver at the Russian Open in Moscow today.

The 2015 World Championship medallist fought her way through the country’s home grown talent to eventually reach the -62kg Final – where she came second to Yulia Turutina 0-3.

On receiving her medal, she said, “I found today really fun. I came out here to practice my targets and get more time in the ring before the next Grand Prix.

She continued: “Today’s final was quite close, but I lost due to a small mistake, which means I can go home and work on it. I was unlucky with a few decisions made by the referee but I’m still happy overall with how my mindset was throughout the day, as it was very long.”

With the fourth leg of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix taking place in the home of GB Taekwondo, the Manchester-based fighter added: “There’s nothing like competing on home soil. It is such an advantage to have our home crowd cheering for us, every single person gives us that extra bit of confidence and helps to spur us on!

“As much as I love to compete abroad, it always feels that extra bit special at home – nothing can compare.”
