US and them! GB stars final test before World Taekwondo Grand Prix

6th October 2017

Five GB Taekwondo stars are looking to earn their stripes at the President’s Cup in Las Vegas from today onwards.

The Manchester trained quintet are definitely looking for extended time on the mats before the World Taekwondo Grand Prix at the Copper Box Arena in London on October (20-22)

Reigning European champion, Lauren Williams, is the only female in the team and one of the favourites for the -67kg title.

“I’ve not had the best run of competitions the last couple of months,” admits the South Wales-born ace.

“But each time I know I’m getting better. My game is improving very slowly and I’m excited to practice my strategy again.

“Competing in the US is another great opportunity to put things into practice, and really focus on fixing my game ready for the next Grand Prix,” added the double World Junior gold medallist.

“This competition is back-to-back with the recent Grand Prix in Morocco.

“So, training leading up to it hasn’t been the best it can be. However, I know I am more than prepared to get in the ring again.”

The rest of the team is: Damon Sansum (-80kg), Max Cater (-58kg), Peter Radford-Longobardi (-68kg) and Bradly Sinden (-68kg).

Watch Olympic medallists Jade Jones, Lutalo Muhammad and Bianca Walkden compete at the London edition of the World Taekwondo Grand Prix, which takes place in the Copper Box Arena from 20-22 October.

For the first time, Britain’s leading Paralympic star, Amy Truesdale, will also be battling the world’s best at the World Para Taekwondo Championships alongside newcomers, Leif Thobroe, Matt Bush, Joseph Lane and Katy Elay on 19 October.
