PARA: FEMALE K44 -47kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 7 athletes / 7 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Kara-Ool(RUS), Silver/Marchuk (UKR), Bronze/Ekinci (TUR) and Arbakov (RUS)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Viktoriia Marchuk (UKR) current World No2

What will we see – First performance in the Championships by a member of the Ukrainian Paralympic Team with Marchuk seeded No1 and expected to exceed her Silver from Sofia 2021.

Bronze medallist from 2021 and world No5 Ekinci returns seeded No3. She faces competition for Silver from No2 seed, and World No4 Isakova (UZB)

PARA: MALE K44 -58kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 12 athletes / 9 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Akmatov (RUS), Silver/Ozcan (TUR), Bronze/Kong (FR) and Arbakov (RUS)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Ali can Ozcan (TUR) – World No1

What will we see – Expect a close battle for medal places as the world top 3 Ozcan(TUR)/1, Kong (FR)/2 and Yasur (ISR)/3 all compete. Ozcan is current European Championship Silver medallist with Kong taking a Bronze in Sofia 2021.

They could be challenged by No 4 seed in this category Yasser Mohammad Ahmed Elsayed (EGY) and No5 seed Muhtorov (UZB)

PARA: MALE K41 -58kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 1 athletes / 1 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Iakupov (RUS), Silver/Asbala (TUR), Bronze/Ugar Bitkay (TUR) and Khizanishvil (TUR)

What will we see – Khizanishvil, World No 3 returns as top seed in this category.

OLY: FEMALE -49kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 20 athletes / 19 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Cerezo (ESP), Silver/Musteata(ROM), Bronze/Ryadninskaya (RUS) and Ayadin (GER)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Adriana Cerezo Iglesias (ESP) current World No2

What will we see – Cerezo (ESP) is expected to retain her European Gold but could face competition from Yildirim (TUR).

GB athlete Maddison Moore competes, hoping to go one step further and improve on her Bronze medal wins at the recent Swedish Open and 2021 Women’s Championships.

OLY: FEMALE -53kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 21 athletes / 20 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Kudashova (RUS), Silver/Agns (TUR), Bronze/Patakfalvy (HUN) and Ivanova (BUL)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Ela Aydin (GER) World No 3

What will we see – In a category that really could be anyone’s to win, Aydin (GER) looks like the one to beat with Sofia Silver medallist Agns (TUR) currently World No 14 facing a battle to retain her medal. Khobtar (UKR) also competing.

OLY: MALE -54kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 23 athletes / 22 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Salim (HUN), Silver/Rapsomanikis(GRE), Bronze/Kazlou (BEL) and Bovkun (RUS)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Omar Salim (HUN) current World No3

What will we see – World No 3 and current European Champion Omar Salim (HUN) returns to defend his title. He could face competition from Polat (TUR) current World No5. However, expect some surprises as this category features lots of lower world ranked athletes from across the continent.

OLY: MALE -63kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 25 athletes / 24 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Recber (TUR), Silver/Jorquera(ESP), Bronze/Achab (BEL) and Crescenzi (IT)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Joan Jorquera Cala (ESP) World No1

What will we see – World No1 Jorquera (ESP) is the one to watch, hoping to improve on his Silver from Sofia 2021, but with current European Champion Recbar (TUR) and Bronze medallist Achab (BEL) also competing, expect the results to be close.

Bystrov (UKR) currently ranked 275 in the world should also expect a rapturous welcome to the court.
