What will we see: Sofia 2021 European Champion Bozteke returns to defend his title with No2 seed Bossolo, World No4, looking like his toughest opponent.

What will we see: Cavdar(TUR) is favourite as World No1, reigning European Champion and Silver Olympic Medallist in Tokyo 2020, faces competition for the titles from Ali Abd Al Moneem Hassan (EGY) seeded no2, and Garcia Quijano No3.

What will we see: Expect the home crowd to go crazy for GBR’s Jade Jones who returns to defend her European Championship title after the disappointment of Tokyo 2020. A rematch of the 2021 final against Ilgun (TUR) the current world No 2 is expected. The category also includes Jones’ GBR teammate Aaliyah Powell.

OLY: FEMALE – 62kg

What will we see: Vuletic (CRO) returns to defend her 2021 European gold with Calvo Gomez (ESP) her closest world ranked rival. Chloe Roberts (GBR) makes her European Championships debut.

What will we see: GBR Caden Cunningham competes in a category that feels evenly matched with only Sapina (CRO) and Botta (ITA) currently in the world ranking top 10.

OLY: MALE -74 kg

  • PARTICIPATION – 27 athletes / 27 countries
  • SOFIA 2021 EUROPEAN WINNERS – Gold/Robak (POL), Silver/Husic (BIH), Bronze/Quesada (ESP) and Achab (BEL)
  • HIGHEST POSITION IN WORLD RANKING – Daniel Quesada Barrera (ESP) World No1

What will we see: Quesada Barrera, World No1, is expected to improve on his Bronze from Sofia 2021 but faces competition from Husic (BIH) who hopes to go one better than his Silver from last year.GBR newcomer Cameron Booth will be the last GB athlete of the event to receive the support of the home spectators.
