Lutalo was born and raised a few miles from the site of the new Olympic Stadium in Stratford. He began practicing taekwondo at the age of three with his father Wayne Muhammad, who has more than four decades of experience in martial arts.
"My dad began teaching me to give me some discipline and focus, " said Lutalo.
"We were watching the taekwondo at the Sydney Olympics when my dad asked me if I would like to compete. I replied 'yes' and have been competing ever since. I am proud to say I owe him everything."
In the summer of 2011 he joined the GB Academy and has been training with high Performance Coach Joseph Salim ever since.
During his time in the Academy he has gone from strength to strength, medalling in four competitions, most recently winning -87kg gold at the 2012 European Championships.
Lutalo, a huge bookworm in his spare time, said that he was 'ecstatic' on finding out he had been selected for the Games, where he won a bronze medal at -80kg.
