Bronze

GB’s Junior Squad have picked up a further three medals on day three of the ETU European Championships in Latvia.

Promising young fighters, Cameron Booth of NTC, Leah Moorby – a member of Ultimate and the GB Academy’s very own Taylor Goodall won bronze in the -51kg, -59kg and -46kg weight divisions.

Nottingham-based Cameron, battled against opponents from The Netherlands, Belgium and France before going down to Russia’s Vladislav Gaponyuk 12-4.

Similarly, Dutch Open silver medallist, Leah, put in some great performances in fights against opponents from Belgium and Azerbaijan; she then reached the Semi-Final stage where she bowed out to Croatia’s Anamarija Runtic 19-7.

As for the last of the trio, Liverpool-born Taylor, who recently joined the GB Academy in Manchester, she managed to secure a bronze medal by reaching the Semi-Final before losing to Giuliana Federici of Germany 8-4.

It was a close call for new addition, Jack Spall, who recently joined via the latest UK Sport backed Fighting Chance initiative, as he made it to the +78kg Quarter Final but missed out on a chance to medal as he lost to Turkish Omer Firat Celik 24-01.

Tomorrow sees the remainder of the team aiming for gold, from the likes of GB Academy’s Archie Waldock and Abigail Stones as well as, Simone Abley of Salamander Taekwondo, we wish them the best of luck!
