Meanwhile, Great Britain qualified a fourth taekwondo player for Rio as Mahama Cho ended the hopes of London 2012 gold medallist Carlo Molfetta.

Cho racked up a 11-2 victory in his semi-final with the Italian to bring Britain’s Olympic taekwondo squad up to the maximum number of four.

Jade Jones, the women’s 57kg champion in London, had already qualified for Rio, as had compatriots Bianca Walkden and Lutalo Muhammad.

After dethroning Molfetta, Cho went on to win his final against Arman-Marshall Silla, but the defeated Belorussian has also earned a Rio berth.
