Sinden Secures Silver

3rd April 2022

Bradly Sinden has secured a silver medal at the Spanish Open tonight, which has taken place in Alicante.

The Olympic silver medallist faced fellow brit, Matthew Howell in his opening match and took the win with a score of 8-5 before going onto beat Gabriele Caulo of Italy 13-6 in the last sixteen.

The Doncaster-born athlete continued the momentum in the -68kg quarter-final by coming out on top against Croatian Leon Glasnovic 14-10 which then landed him in the semi-final with Theo Lucien.

Despite the French fighter’s best efforts, Sinden proved too much for him and the match resulted in 26-9.

For the final, Sinden unluckily had to withdraw due to injury, which subsequently secured him second place on the podium.

Elsewhere, it was a quarter-final finish for his teammate, Caden Cunningham, who competed in the -87kg weight division of the event.
