GB Taekwondo will be welcoming Development Programme athlete, Jordyn Smith (of Central Taekwondo), into the Academy in Manchester.

Smith is set to join the elite team on 14^th March and will continue training for the upcoming Youth Olympic Qualification Tournament and Junior World Championships, next month.

She will compete under the -49kg weight division alongside taekwondo newcomer, Maddison Moore.

Scottish-born Smith has made quite the mark over the years, most notably a gold medal at the Cadet European Championships in 2015, which was swiftly followed by a European bronze in the very same year.

On graduating from the pathway, she said: “I’m really excited to be joining the World Class Performance Programme, it’s always been a goal of mine to become a full-time athlete at GB Taekwondo and now it’s finally happening.

I can’t wait to start training with some of the best athletes and coaches in the world, I know it’s going to be a great experience for me!”
