Truesdale Takes Bronze At The Para Taekwondo World Championships

Fresh from her win last weekend at the National Championships, Britain’s top para-taekwondo star Amy Truesdale claimed bronze today at the 6th World Para Taekwondo Championships in Samsun, Turkey.

The Chester-based fighter’s first task of the day was to have the honour of reading the athlete’s oath during the Championship’s opening ceremony.

With the competition underway, she eventually faced Azerbaijan’s Aynur Mammadova in the +58kg Semi-Final and though she led from the first round to midway through the third, Amy lost the match 8-7 and with it the chance to retain the World title she claimed in 2014.

Despite being bitterly disappointed with her performance, Amy has the opportunity to quickly bounce back as she heads to Russia next week for the IWAS World Games in Sochi.
