GB Taekwondo stars are dreaming of future successes on the international stage helped by a new commercial partnership secured by Team GB.

Used to fighting on the mats of the world, the Manchester trained squad now have mattresses to boost their chances of glory, hopefully at next year’s Tokyo Olympic Games.

While the deal with the UK’s most recommended bed retailer, Dreams, will be conducive to good night’s sleep, it will also leave the fighters, including double Olympic gold medallist, Jade Jones and triple world champion, Bianca Walkden, wide awake for action.

Matt Archibald, Chief Executive Officer for GB Taekwondo, said: “We are delighted, as an organisation, to benefit from Dreams becoming an official partner of Team GB.

“It’s rare for our athletes to be caught napping when they step out into the competitive arenas.

“And we certainly hope that’s the case at Tokyo 2020 when we look to build on three medals won at Rio 2016.

“But rest and recuperation is every bit as important as physical training and this partnership will see luxury mattresses supplied to athletes’ houses to ensure that rest is prioritised.”

With the Games under 10 months away, Dreams and Team GB will work closely together to further prepare for Tokyo 2020.

Since being established in 1985, Dreams has become the UK’s leading bed specialist, making 160,000 beds annually.

Team GB and Dreams’ sights are firmly set on planning for Tokyo 2020, with the first activation of the partnership due to land in early March.
