Pathway Coach Nominated for Coach of the Year

If last year was anything to go by, 2016 is set to be just as exciting for Talent Pathway coach, Sivakumar Ramasamy. He has been nominated ‘Coach of the Year’ at the British Ethnic Diversity Sport’s Awards (BEDSA), which takes place on 6th February and needs your vote!

Siva, who has been with the Pathway Programme since the very beginning in 2011, is also the head coach at Gurumu Taekwondo Club, which is based in London.

Over the years, he has helped to develop a whole host of talented youngsters and has seen Gurumu go from strength to strength – as it is one of five clubs in the UK to be granted our prestigious ‘Talent Club’ status.

This isn’t the first time that Siva has been recognised for his achievements within the sporting community – as just last year he was the runner up for the ‘Performance Development Coach of the Year’ at the UK Coaching Awards.

It’s safe to say that it’s been a great 12 months for Siva and he is delighted at being acknowledged once again amongst his sporting peers.

“I am extremely honoured to be shortlisted. It is certainly a great recognition and I am extremely humbled by it,” said Ramasamy.

“The last two years have been an exciting journey in terms of my personal coaching development and the knowledge and experience that I have gained. I must take this opportunity to thank my incredible team at Gurumu both coaches and athletes for their unconditional support and trust in me.

“I must also thank both GB Taekwondo and British Taekwondo for giving me the opportunity to work on some really exciting projects over the years and supporting my development and finally all the coaches and athletes that I have worked with within the wider Taekwondo community.

“I feel very excited to attend the awards evening and to represent our sport during this exciting year of the Olympic Games in Rio.”
