Youth Olympics 2018: Everything You Need to Know

The Youth Olympics are set to kick off in Buenos Aires today, with three GB Taekwondo athletes competing next week.

The multi-sport event will take place from 6th -18th October, with 42 athletes hoping to make their mark in Argentina. Great Britain’s largest ever Youth Olympics squad is made up of youngsters between the ages of 15-18 who will be competing in 17 of the 32 sports.

GB has previously won a total of 3 Youth Olympic Taekwondo medals, the first – a gold, was secured by double Olympic Champion, Jade Jones at Singapore in 2010, whilst Christian McNeish and Abigail Stones achieved bronze medals four years later in Nanjing, China.

Competing GB Taekwondo athletes:

  • Aaliyah Powell (Huddersfield) on 8th October
  • Mason Yarrow (Doncaster) on 8th October
  • Sharissa Gannaway (Southampton) on 11th October

The Games are live and on-demand over on the Olympic Channel, whilst daily coverage will be shown on the BBC red button and the BBC Sport website from 14:00 BST each day and highlights from 08:00 BST every day.
