Equality Statement

GB Taekwondo (GB TKD) is committed to ensuring that the culture, philosophy and processes within the organisation and its athlete programme are free from bias and discrimination.  It upholds the principles of diversity, equality and inclusion and as such recognises its legal obligations under the Equality Act 2010.

Our vision for equality is to ensure that any discrimination is tackled and any barriers identified and overcome.  We believe that everyone has the right to participate in an environment free from the threat of discrimination, intimidation, harassment or abuse.   We aim to ensure that we create an environment which enables everyone involved to achieve their full potential and have a positive and fulfilling experience.

GB Taekwondo aim to recruit and retain talented individuals through fair and effective recruitment and selection procedures.  Currently 33% of GB Taekwondo’s directors are female and we are committed to maintaining at least 30% of each gender on the board and to progressing towards gender parity and greater diversity on the board and across the organisation. Appointment will always be on merit.

GB Taekwondo aims to ensure that all present and potential athletes, employees, Board members, officials and volunteers are treated fairly and on an equal basis, irrespective of sex, age, disability, race, religion or belief, sexual orientation, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, gender reassignment or social status.

In October 2013, GB Taekwondo achieved the Foundation level of the Equality Standard for Sport, the Preliminary level was then accomplished in July 2015 and the organisation is now moving forward with a commitment to attain the Intermediate level – progressively in line with UK Sport’s targets.

GB Taekwondo are an inclusive and welcoming organisation that respects and values the rights, dignity and worth of every person.
