17th September 2017
Amy Truesdale has achieved a gold medal at the British Taekwondo National Championships today (Sunday).
The Para Taekwondo superstar fought in the able-bodied -73kg category of the event, where she won against Simonne Griffith-Jones of Kwon TKD 22-8 in the Final.
Upon winning, the world ranked number 1 said: “I have been doing Taekwondo for 21 years and have always fought able-bodied. It was in 2009 that the first Para Taekwondo event was announced and since then that’s the avenue I have been supporting and competing in.
She continued: “I’m glad to be back and to have won in the advanced seniors. It’s ability, not disability that matters.”
Elsewhere, Fighting Chance newcomer, Jonathan Bangura gained a bronze medal after losing out to Georgios Bilalis (Ilyeo Taekwondo) in the +87kg Semi-Final.
