Great Britain’s World Class Performance Programme will be welcoming an athlete from its Development line-up.

Cameron Booth of NTC will make the move on 20th November and will begin training immediately with the elite team.

The new arrival will join the -58kg Olympic weight division alongside Max Cater, Hassan Haider and two-time Olympic Champion, Jade Jones’ younger brother, Luke.

Booth has made quite the impression on the junior circuit and most notably came away with a bronze medal from the Junior European Championships in 2015. Not to mention, he is the reigning Dutch Open Champion in the youth -55kg category.

L2R: High-Performance Coach Martin Stamper, Performance Director Gary Hall, Cameron Booth and Development Coach Romaine Bailey.

Upon graduating from the pathway, he said: “It felt amazing when I found out, to know all the hard work I’ve been putting in has been recognised and rewarded was really nice, it’s all I’ve wanted for a long time, so it was really good to hear.”

He continued: “The time I have spent on the development programme has been really beneficial, it gave me a taste of what it’s like to join the full-time academy and also allowed me to the opportunity to train with the best talent in the UK.

I would like to thank my parents for supporting me with everything, along with my coaches from NTC, Mark Moores and Ruebyn Richards, not to mention, my teammates and the Development Programme team too.”
