GB Taekwondo is delighted to announce the athletes selected to represent Great Britain at the ETU European Cadet Championships taking place in France, 2-5 July.

A 15-strong team of athletes, drawn from clubs across the country will represent Great Britain at the Championships in Strasbourg.

The majority of the team are debuting at a major Championships with only Shayanne Sarsoza, Jordyn Smith, Holly Hankin-Wray, Siena Limbu Lingden and Mason Yarrow having competed at the Cadet World Championships in 2014.

On announcing the team for the 6th European Cadet Championships, Performance Pathway Manager Steve Green outlined the primary objectives;

“As a programme we continue to establish a pathway with a view to producing future senior athletes who will be highly competitive at a European, World and Olympic level and will maintain the medal winning performances that the senior / academy performance have become accustomed to in the recent years.

The European Cadet Championships provides an ideal learning environment for athletes who are still at the beginning of their pathway, to build international competition and reputation, as well as developmental experience with an added opportunity for some medal prospects. It also forms a platform for those who may be selected for the World Cadet Championships taking place in August to have two enormous competitive opportunities in close proximity.”

The GB coaching team will be announced next week. Thereafter the team will embark on a series of preparation camps complemented by training plans within their clubs before departing for France in early July.
